Heights and Distances Concepts
- Line of Sight: Line drawn from the observer's eye to the point in the object viewed.
- Angle of Elevation: Angle formed by the line of sight with the horizontal when the object is located above horizontal level (looking upwards).
- Angle of Depression: Angle formed by the line of sight with the horizontal when the object is located below horizontal level (looking downwards).
Study Tip
Angle of depression of an object from an observation point equals the angle of elevation of the observation point viewed from the object (Alternate interior angles between parallel horizontals).
